Manchester Paper Plastic Ltd chooses Lyndex RAM II Baler for increased throughput

Manchester Paper Plastic Ltd, a family run waste management company offering recycling services across the North West of England, has selected Lyndex to supply a new baling and conveyor solution to improve throughput and performance at its Ardwick-based depot, close to Manchester city centre. Providing trade waste collection and recycling services to a range of public and private sector organisations across the region, the company required a flexible solution to handle all grades of paper, cardboard and plastics, including OCC, PET and HDPE. The ability to switch quickly and easily, between different waste streams, while at the same time achieving maximum bale weights to optimise container loading and haulage costs, were also crucial factors. Under the contract Lyndex installed the latest LT2030 2x55kW Ram II Baler with a bespoke in-floor feed conveyor designed to speed loading and which is fully integrated with the baler’s PLC control system. With a footprint measuring 10.5 x 5.6 meters and a 200 tonnes press force, the baler is designed for faster throughput, delivering consistent and compact high density bales measuring 762 x 1000 x 1524 mm in line with today’s reprocessing requirements. The Lyndex Ram II replaces an ageing IPS machine, and will help to meet current and projected production volumes at the Manchester facility with faster production times and reduced downtime issues. The combination of advanced hydraulics operating at 4500 psi, with energy efficient variable speed displacement pumps reduces the baler footprint compared to competing products, while delivering equivalent or increased press force and significantly improved cycle times. In turn sophisticated programming, which includes a 16 grade ‘recipe’ system to optimise bale production for different waste fractions at the touch of a button, helps to improve productivity and throughput. As with all Lyndex customers, Manchester Paper Plastic Ltd has benefited from a series of pre-contract discussions, technical evaluations and site visits, before a final specification was agreed and Lyndex is responsible for all aspects of the contract. This included site surveys, technical drawings and coordination of civil engineering works especially for the in-floor sections of the feed conveyor. Installation and commissioning were followed by operation and safety training for all nominated site operatives. Quote: Khalid Siddiqui, Managing Director of Manchester Paper Plastic Ltd said: “Baler power and throughput, together with flexibility and reliability are increasingly important factors for a waste management business of our size. Managing bale density and weight, to control haulage costs, is now crucial. Selecting the Lyndex RAM II solution has been a good decision for us and as a local supplier, support is excellent too.”
